SmartFlow An alignment-based vinyasa yoga class that is deeply rooted in mindfulness and self-inquiry. This style of yoga was originally developed by Annie Carpenter. This class is perfect for those who want to build strength and flexibility with options given to tailor each class to the individual. We will explore movement and alignment principles as well as the deeper philosophical themes of yoga. All levels.
Gentle Vinyasa A slower paced flow class focused on ease and relaxation in yoga postures. This class is perfect for a post-surf stretch, if you are recovering from an injury, or if you want to move nice and easy. All levels class but beginners are welcome!
Restorative Yoga Classes are focused on relaxing and restoring the body and central nervous system. Postures are often supported with the use of props and held for longer periods of time. Hola! Mucho Gusto!
Heidi Blackman (Studio Owner & Instructor) I started practicing yoga in 2003 while attending university at UC San Diego. I dabbled in many different types of yoga but eventually found my silver slipper with SmartFlow yoga and Annie Carpenter. I am a 500-ERYT yoga instructor and a certified SmartFlow yoga instructor. I completed my initial 200 hr training with YogaWorks and Kia Miller in 2012 and my 300+ hr advanced training with Annie Carpenter in 2014. I am also an avid equestrian and co-founder of Equisol Retreats, a horseback riding and yoga retreat business in Nosara, Costa Rica.
I partnered with Callie Rae King and Horse Class in 2020 to offer a 30-day online Yoga for Riders course that has received amazing feedback. The course is geared for beginner and intermediate yogis who are looking to improve their balance, flexibility, strength, self-awareness and confidence on the yoga mat and in the saddle! Kristin O'Connell (Instructor) has been teaching yoga for over 16 years. She believes yoga should be fun and accessible for everyone and enjoys infusing music into her classes to inspire playfulness within the flow. Kristin’s teaching journey began in 2007 in Lake Tahoe, CA where she founded Om Kids Yoga and The Om Studio, as well as taught power vinyasa classes in various local studios. Her background and certification is with Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow and also alignment focused Anusara Yoga. Her ongoing learning and teaching has developed into more yin influenced and restorative style classes. Kristin believes her ultimate yoga practice has been founding and developing Devoted to Children Foundation (D2C). Since 2012 her nonprofit has served vulnerable children in Haiti offering them a stable family home and educational opportunities. Over the last 10 years she has led yoga service based “Seva Trips” to Haiti to support the local community projects of D2C. Kristin continues to teach yoga in Cape Cod every summer and even recently taught yoga in Antarctica. She is the mother of two teenage daughters and 2 rescue dogs and resides in Playa Pelada.
