SmartFlow Yoga An alignment-based vinyasa yoga class that is deeply rooted in mindfulness and self-inquiry. This style of yoga was originally developed by Annie Carpenter. This class is perfect for those who want to build strength and flexibility with options given to tailor each class to the individual. We will explore movement and alignment principles as well as the deeper philosophical themes of yoga. All levels.
Genital Vinyasa A slower paced flow class more focused on finding ease and relaxation in yoga postures. Unwind and refresh.
Yoga Conditioning A mix of traditional asana and some fun non-traditional movements to keep things fresh. The focus will be on building strength in specific muscle groups using more dynamic movements, meaning more repetitions and shorter holds. There will still be attention to alignment and plenty of modifications to suit all levels.
Restorative Yoga Classes are focused on relaxing and restoring the body and central nervous system. Postures are often supported with the use of props and held for longer periods of time. Restorative yoga classes are all about letting go and allowing your body to open with the use of props, gravity and intentional breathing.

Heidi Blackman (Studio Owner & Instructor) I started practicing yoga in 2003 while attending university at UC San Diego. I dabbled in many different types of yoga but eventually found my silver slipper with SmartFlow yoga and Annie Carpenter. I am a 500-ERYT yoga instructor and a certified SmartFlow yoga instructor. I completed my initial 200 hr training with YogaWorks and Kia Miller in 2012 and my 300+ hr advanced training with Annie Carpenter in 2014. I am also an avid equestrian and run Equisol Retreats, a horseback riding and yoga retreat business here in Nosara, Costa Rica.
I love to explore how the physical and philosophical aspects of yoga can enhance riding, athletics and life in general and plan to share that love with you here.
I partnered with Callie Rae King and Horse Class in 2020 to offer a 30-day online Yoga for Riders course that has received amazing feedback. The course is geared for beginner and intermediate yogis who are looking to improve their balance, flexibility, strength and confidence on the yoga mat and in the saddle! Yoga for Riders
Ramdom tidbits: I am a mother of two young kiddos, three dogs, one cat, a growing flock of chickens and two horses. My husband, Graham, is a very patient man :-) I am a Divemaster and I dabble in surfing. I love veggies and cooking and baking. I love nature and hiking. I love spiritual studies and mindfulness practice. I have a Master's degree in International Environmental Policy. Hablo español.
This has been the absolute best [Yoga for Riders] program for me, thank you so much!! It is the perfect blend of variety of poses, the breath, the meditation addressing the mind and soul, the length (30 minutes is the sweet spot). It was nicely edited. I loved the variety of locations where you filmed. Heidi is an amazing teacher with excellent reminders for modification and adjustments. The verbal instruction was so good most often I didn't have to view the screen to see what was happening. Heidi's voice is very warm and supportive. My body is feeling more limber and strong. I look forward to yoga practice and always feel better afterwards. I've tried other yoga videos and online courses, but nothing comes close to this perfect blend.
